Dear Friends, Eiji Hattori, Nogouchi Nobou, and Sumiko Ishigami on behalf of the Italian Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Centers and for myself, I wish to express to you our heartfelt participation in the terrible disaster which is causing so much suffering to the Japanese people.
We feel really very close to you, to the Japanese Federation and to your Clubs more directly.
We are especially close to the friends of Sendai – a wonderful city where the first UNESCO Club was created and which I had visited and admired during our UNESCO’s Clubs meeting.
We are following with sorrow on television this terrible situation and we hope that more people can be saved.
We all admire the spirit of your people and we are sure that you will find the courage and the force to forge a new beginning, after the tragedy, as you have demonstrated after Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
With our sincere solidarity and dear wishes to you, yours families and friends,
Marialuisa Stringa,
President of Italian Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Centers
president of UNESCO Center of Florence
